John Summit Brooklyn Concert reviews
Madonna Late as usual
Madonna appears to enjoy pushing the envelope with combining sex imagery and all kinds of Catholic, likely the least imaginative part of the show. But Madonna can still sing as good as ever, and dance with the best of them. The show music was heavily based on EDM, so many older fans might not enjoy the musicality as much as previous tours. I have no qualms about her performance ability. Her dancers and singers were top-notch.
Madonna took the stage at 10:31. No real excuse, just when she was ready. But DJMARY MAC started at 9 PM and finished her set at 9:45.
The greatest parts of the show were some of the quietest and least choreographed. True Blue and La Vie en rose. The video interludes (4) used for costume changes are pretty intense, but again, there is a lot of overt sexuality that is getting to be a bit tired and overused, even if she has the body of a 25-year-old.
Madonna seems content to be known as a Prima Donna, for her now normal 2 to 3-hour start time later than the indicated 8 PM ticket show time. Even allowing for her opening act, John Summit, it was an incredible show of "I'm the star and you guys can just wait for it."
Madonna seems to enjoy pushing the envelope to excess on combining Catholic imagery and sex of all kinds, likely the least imaginative part of the show. These taunts at religion likely spawn the small group of vocal protesters outside letting the crowd know they were all going to hell for seeing Madonna.
I won my tickets so spending more time at the arena waiting for the show than the 2.5 hours, 10:31 PM to 1:02 AM, was a bit easier to take. Fully one-third of the crowd, who obviously had to work the next day, left between midnight and 1 AM.
If you decide to go to this tour, my recommendation is: Sleep in the day before the show, show up 2 hours past the ticketed start time, enjoy the show, then take the next day off from work to get back on a normal schedule.
